This Inbox is part of SCOPE TT (System for Civic Observation, Protection & Engagement – Trinidad & Tobago), a national system led by The Cropper Foundation to monitor civic space conditions and support evidence-based advocacy. Reports submitted through this platform help track changes in the enabling environment for civil society and inform advocacy, dialogue, and accountability efforts in Trinidad and Tobago.
What can you report?
Protect Civic Space
We’re looking for concrete incidents, both positive and negative, that reflect how civic space is changing in Trinidad and Tobago. This includes developments that affect:
Freedom of expression, association, or peaceful assembly
For example: threats, restrictions on protests, surveillance
Legal or administrative conditions
For example: difficulties registering your group or meeting compliance requirements
Access to funding and resources
For example: donor pressure, bank account closures, shifting grant criteria
Relationship with the State
For example: exclusion from consultations, lack of accountability
Public discourse
For example: media misinformation, smear campaigns, hate speech
Digital security
For example: censorship, hacking, doxxing, blocked access to platforms
What will you be asked?
Each submission guides you through a short set of steps:
Describe what happened
Share what took place in your own words. This can be brief or detailed.
Tell us when and where it happened
Provide an approximate date or time period, and the location (community, institution, or online platform).
Explain who or what was involved
Describe the people, organisations, institutions, or groups involved. Names are optional.
Select what the incident relates to
Choose one or more categories such as civic freedoms, legal conditions, funding, digital security, or public discourse.
Share the impact
Explain how this affected you, your organisation, or civil society more broadly.
Share any supporting information
You may describe or upload evidence if you feel safe doing so.
Tell us how you learned about it
Indicate whether you experienced the incident directly, witnessed it, or heard about it from others.

We do not collect or store your identity unless you choose to share it. All reports are reviewed confidentially and used only to identify patterns, raise alerts, and support efforts to improve the civic environment in Trinidad and Tobago.
Please note: this platform is not a grievance or complaints mechanism. We cannot respond to or resolve individual cases. However, your information plays an important role in strengthening protections for civil society as a whole.
