Why You Need to Reserve a Name
Before incorporating, you must reserve your chosen company name through CROS. This ensures no other organisation takes the name while you complete the incorporation process.
Check Availability First
Before applying, search the Companies Register to confirm your chosen name is not already in use or too similar to an existing organisation.
How to Apply for Name Reservation
- Log on to CROS using your CRA
- Select Name Reservation
- Select New company name reservation
- For Type of Request, select Incorporation
- For Incorporation Type, select Non-Profit
- Enter your proposed company name and alternative names (in case your first choice is unavailable)
- Complete all required fields and submit
Cost: TT $25.00 | Processing time: 3 working days
Possible Outcomes
- Approved — Your name is reserved for 45 days. You must complete incorporation within this period or the reservation expires.
- Query — The Registrar needs more information. Reply to the email with the required clarification.
- Rejected — The name does not meet availability or suitability requirements. You must submit a new application and pay TT $25.00 again.
Next Step
Once your name is approved, proceed to obtain consent from all Directors. See Getting Director Consent on CROS.
