Overview
The Registrar General’s Department uses four main forms for NPO registration and ongoing compliance. All forms must currently be submitted in person at the Registrar General’s Office (7th Floor). Online filing is not available.
Form 1 — Application for Registration
Purpose: Register your organisation under the NPO Act for the first time.
When to use: When your CSO or NPO is ready to register under the NPO Act, whether incorporated or unincorporated.
Sections: Organisational details, controllers, members, founders, and beneficiaries. Requires attachments including photo ID for controllers and the AML/CFT/PF questionnaire reference.
Form 4 — Notice of Change in Particulars
Purpose: Notify the Registrar of any changes to your registered information after registration.
When to use: When your organisation’s name, physical address, mailing address, telephone, email, status, declared purposes, controllers, or members change. Only complete the sections relevant to the specific change.
Form 6 — Annual Return by a Non-Profit Organisation
Purpose: Confirm your organisation’s current details each year under the NPO Act.
When to use: Annually, within 30 days of the anniversary date of your NPO registration.
Sections: 8 questions covering organisation identity and current controllers, members, founders, and beneficiaries. Two original signed copies required. Filing fee: TT $40.00.
Form 29 — Annual Return of a Non-Profit Company (Companies Act)
Purpose: Confirm your organisation’s current details each year under the Companies Act.
When to use: Only for organisations incorporated as a Non-Profit Company under the Companies Act. This is a separate obligation from Form 6. Both Form 6 and Form 29 are now due at the same time — within 30 days of the anniversary date of Companies Act incorporation.
Form 7 — Application for Restoration
Purpose: Restore an NPO that has been cancelled or removed from the NPO register.
When to use: If your organisation’s registration has been cancelled and you need to restore it to the register.
