What is Restoration?
If your NPO’s registration has been cancelled or struck off the register, you can apply to have it restored. Restoration reinstates your organisation as a registered NPO under the NPO Act.
When Does a Registration Get Cancelled?
An NPO registration may be cancelled if the organisation:
- Fails to file Annual Returns for two or more consecutive years
- Is dissolved or wound up
- Provides false information in its registration application
How Do I Apply for Restoration?
Use Form 7 — Application for Restoration. Submit the completed form in person at the Registrar General’s Office.
You will likely need to bring:
- Completed Form 7
- Any outstanding Annual Returns (Form 6) with applicable fees
- Supporting documentation as requested
What Happens After I Apply?
The Registrar General’s Department will review your application. If approved, your NPO will be restored to the register and you will receive confirmation of reinstatement.
Note: If your organisation is not yet registered and has never been on the NPO register, you need to complete a new registration using Form 1, not a restoration. See the Registering an Established CSO journey.
